Sometimes it’s the Women In Our Culture that bring us down, it’s not their fault but they do.

Women’s labour is written in our ancestral history, it’s in our culture, it’s in our tradition, it’s in the coarse hands of our grandmothers, our aunties, our mothers. In ways, women’s labour is Our Culture, so what is the fate of Our Women? And what is the fate of Our Culture? 

Aurat Raj, The Rule of the Woman, told through a chorus of four women is an opening, an offering that invites you to examine the weight of upholding culture and the people who bear that weight. Directed by Pratha Nagpal, this world premiere is an act of resistance made in care for our bloodline.
